APPAREL AND TEXTILE PRODUCTION IApparel I introduces students to the history and current state of the Apparel and Textile Industry. Students will gain a strong understanding of fibers and different fabrics (textile science), the principles and elements of Apparel Design and understanding the basics of all the sewing tools and machines used in class. We cover many apparel sewing techniques such as seams, fasteners, selecting and following a pattern, and finishing a garment. Students bring in supplies to create self-selected projects designed to fit their creative spirit and level of ability. Students spend most of class sewing and practicing critical thinking as they work on projects.

APPAREL AND TEXTILE PRODUCTION I IStudents in this course will gain a deeper understanding of design principles, engineering, fabrication and global needs of an ever-changing Apparel & Textile industry. The course provides a major focus on textile design, textile science, product construction, global manufacturing, and the apparel/textile market while incorporating and scaffolding prerequisite concepts.
Emphasis is placed on application of design and engineering skills used to create, produce, and prepare a product for market. Students will also gain the entrepreneurial skills necessary for successful marketing and distribution of an apparel product. Art, literacy, mathematics, science and social studies are reinforced throughout. APPAREL AND TEXTILE PRODUCTION HONORSIn addition to the standard course requirement Apparel and Textile Production II, this honors level course extends the standard course of study to a more challenging level for the student who is highly motivated, able to work independently and has a history of high academic achievement.
